or so…

… Greenbelt was good, Excellent company – rather lacking in Jane-ness, but she’s coming next year, so that’s OK. Too many things on at the same time, but there’s always the MP3s that I’ve not bought yet. Billy Bragg was excellent, Chas and Dave were disappointing. Didn’t go to any really bad talks, and actually managed some worship stuff. Did my back in on the bouncy obstacle course, bought a lovely Fair Trade duvet cover, and a very lovely skirt and a gorgeous little bible that is pretty and strokable and small, and everything I wanted from a Bible, so I shall now not covet my neighbour’s scriptures in Sunday services.

Brownies is going really well so far, I even know all their names, and (more importantly) which ones not to put together. I have a smart rugby shirt type uniform, with an official badge tab and not very official M&S jeans. I get to renew my promise at the end of this month, it’s all great. Shouldn’t try and do handstands though, even to encourage reluctant Brownies to work towards their agility badges. I never could do one, so what posessed me to try for the first time in about 20 years, I have no idea. The bruise is healing up though.

Driving is also going well, car still has the same number of dents as before I started driving it which is always a good indication!

Basically everything’s pretty good, I’m not feeling great, but that might be because the weather’s getting worse and I’m getting over a cold. I should be feeling good – Brownie obstacle course tomorrow, hooraay!

bored

time for a meme, thanks burnt sienna:

1. Flip to page 18, paragraph 4 in the book closest to you right now, what does it say?

Hmm, I could have cheated and said that my Bible is closest, but it was beaten by a matter of inches by ‘The Cat Ate My Gymsuit’ by the late great Paula Danziger, which I was using to prepare for an American Evening in our 8-10’s group at church… page 18 has 3 paragraphs, as it’s the end of a chapter, here’s paragraph 1 of page 19:

“School went on as usual. I keep getting good grades in everything but gym. My anonymous letters to the Student Council suggestion box were ignored. Lunches continued to be lousy. We were only up to the Civil War in history class”

2. If you stretch out your left arm – as far as possible, what are you touching?
A Newton’s cradle (one of those things with clicky silver balls on strings)

3. What’s the last program you watched on tv?
‘A Bit of Fry and Laurie’ series two episode one, on dvd this evening.
‘Torchwood’ from Sunday on the hard drive last night
Last Friday’s ‘Neighbours’ for actual live, broadcasting-at-the-same-time-as-watching-tv.

4. Without looking, guess what time it is.
about 9? 8:53, not bad

5. Except the computer, what can you hear right now?
not a lot, we have a very loud computer

6. When was the last time you were outside and what did you do?
walked to my house from the car after my driving lesson

7. What are you wearing?
Jeans and a hoodie (official Lemly uniform).

8. Did you dream last night? If you did, what about?
Probably, but I never remember most of my dreams beyond the first five minutes after waking from them.

9. When was the last time you laughed?
Over dinner, my husband and lodger amuse me.

10. What’s on the walls in the room you’re in right now?
lavender coloured paint (not our doing, it’s not bad but we need to change the orange carpet), a noticeboard, a calender and a picture (no, not that one) of some footprints in sand.

11. Have you seen anything strange lately?
Swansea is a very strange place, so probably, but nothing is springing to mind.

12. What do you think about this meme?
Interesting enough to carry on with for a while…

13. What’s the last film you saw?
Kinky Boots, it was Ok, we gave it 3/5 on our rental thing, it sort of fit into the same mould as Calendar Girls, and Brassed Off and The Full Monty etc etc, but it was enjoyable enough, if not quite reaching the heights it aspired to.

14. If you became a multimillionaire, what would you do with the money?
I really don’t know, it’s not at all likely though. I think a significant proportion would go to doing some good in the world, but I’d probably be selfish with some of it too.

15. Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know.
my feet are cold, even though I’m wearing shoes.

16. If you could change ONE THING in this world, without regarding politics or bad guilt – what would it be?
Everything becomes political if you think about it too much. Decent tea available worldwide, does that work?

17. Do you like dancing?
in some of its forms, yes.

8. George Bush?
Wash your mouth out.

19. What do you want your children’s names to be, girl/boy?
Jones.

20. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Not long term, but I’m up for most experiences, so long as running water and tea are available.

21. What do you want God to tell you, when you come to heaven?
What do you mean “when you come to heaven”? Are you already there? Lemme in!

22. Who should do this meme?
Anyone who’s bored enough.

WISE and well

First of all a huge apology to Semele, my WISE buddy, I got my parcel last week, but was very ill with flu, so didn’t post the MASSIVE THANK YOU it deserved. It really cheered me up, and to demonstrate this effect, I have posted a photo of the new improved and better me with the book:

CIMG2096

The book, for the uninitiated is about a sheep who can’t sleep, and is fantastic.

I thought I’d better blog to keep up with the hubby anyway. I like his blog.

Not much to tell in other news really – I passed my driving theory test (again) yesterday, maybe I’ll manage the practical one of these days. See some of you at Greenbelt – that’s quite exciting!

Hiya

Just bemoaning the fact that my favourite internet sites are not being updated frequently enough, so thought I’d stop calling the kettle black (especially as our kettle is a rather fetching shade of silver) and get on with updating my own bit of the web.

I have had an excuse for not updating in the past month, I’ve had flu and various other illnesses to numerous to go into, but hopefully out of the way now. This has not been the best welcome for our new lodger, but she seems to have settled in OK to the Lemly and Rhys way of doing things.

Oh my, Minn has a wiblog – about time too really, I miss my regular dose of stream of Minnieconciousness, and it’s not really suffering from being in blog form, hurrah!

Went to see a fantastic Richard Thompson gig at the weekend, 2 hours drive away, but well, well worth it, as good as it gets. (I should perhaps point out for some international readers of this blog that 2 hours drive away for a concert in mainland Britain is a really long way, as I am aware that’s the sort of distance you go for a pint of milk in Australia (or something)).

Otherwise life has been pretty hectic for the past couple of weeks, our youthworker has croup, meaning I’ve been far more responsible for a lot of the little darlings than I usually am, also some good friends added to the number of little darlings last week – currently known as “boy” at a week old I hope he gets a name soon…

Has anyone got any ideas on the Guardian quick crossword by the way, I’m a bit stuck?

Eve Eve

Getting excited now, have seen my (wrapped up) presents, and have wrapped everyone else’s. Want to play. Unfortunately a 5 (at least) hour car journey stands between me and Xmas, pass the fruit drops…

J – it was Joe’s, why what other ice cream parlours are on my way home? Also our friendly local greengrocer appears to have ceased trading :( – back to Spar then?

Here’s day 23:

What's behind the square window?
