WISE clue time

Eep, I was going to post some more clues while my WISE package was getting to its destination so the recipient had half a chance of guessing who it was from.

Better late than never.

  1. I have met this person
  2. The fact that I’m posting in a rush now is probably the biggest clue
  3. I’m hoping this person has a place to hang some ornaments this Christmas.

See you later.

New camera…

…possibly bought too soon, as our telly decided to go phhht over the weekend.

I’m having a few image uploading problems at the moment, but you can always find my flickr pages if you can’t wait or something.

Anyway, we had a lovely weekend. Gained a goddaughter, saw lots of old friends – some for not long enough, sorry if you were one of them – and generally had a good time.

We can now catch up on the weekend’s telly on our portable from upstairs, which used to seem like a decent size and now… it doesn’t.

Supposedly tidying…

…but obviously actually blogging. Tidying can wait another few minutes, and besides it’s not like we’ve got an actual guest coming to stay, just the ex-lodger, and she knows exactly what we’re like :)

After last post’s moaning about our camera, and sending back the electrocuting blanket we decided that we’d spend our refunded money on a new camera. It’s a bit more spiffy than the old one, but about half the price (cameras have come down in price, and this one was on sale). I’ve not had a chance to get out properly with it yet, and won’t ’till the weekend, but I’ll post some photos when I do (I’ve just been taking and deleting dull test shots so far).

Brownies tonight, but not in the meeting hall, we’re going out on an adventure – can you guess where?

Many many many thanks to Farli, your wonderfully WISE gift arrived this morning. A-perfect-for-my-Christmas-colour-scheme Christmas stocking knitted (and I’m in awe of anyone who can knit a square never mind something as intricate as this) to an Estonian pattern, filled with a not-quite-but-better-than* chocolate orange and accompanied by a card:

stocking, card and chocolate

<– This is supposed to be a better picture to show the details. It does have the whole stocking in, but it appears to be fuzzier. While it’s true to say I’m getting very fed up with my camera, in this case it’s my photography / editing skills. Sorry.

Looking back at a past Farli project, I’m given to wonder if it’s the same wool used for Rusk’s hoodie?

* Chocolate Orange Divine bar, better because it’s fairly traded chocolate, fits in the stocking, and fits through my letter box!

A Word To The WISE

My WISE package is posted and is on its way. I may drop some hints later as to where it’s going, but for now ‘not within the UK’ will do. Turns out the people were supposed to be picking up the electrocuting blanket between 9 and 5 (not what they told us yesterday). We rescheduled for Monday, which didn’t stop them putting a card through the door to tell us we weren’t in today. Gah.

Tagging along

Yes, these new wiblogs are fantastic for procrastination aren’t they. I’m still thinking what to do for most of my categories, but tagging is great fun, especially as Jack pointed out in the comments with the tag-cloud.

I’m sat in waiting for someone to pick up the electrocuting blanket, in 30 minutes they’ll be officially late, but typically I’ve been waiting since 9am. hopefully they’ll make it in time, because I want to get my WISE parcel in the post on time, given it’s going outside of the UK. Going to the post office would take very little time, but that would be the exact window in which they’d show up.

The Brownies did very well in their inspection last night, only one not in uniform (although there were only eight of them there due to a temporally displaced Halloween disco at the local school). We also had a fire drill, covered books, had a story and a game and talked about or favourite books and authors. Jacqueline Wilson and Humphrey the Hamster scoring very highly on the appreciation index.

I have to stop editing tags for today – it’s far too addictive, and also therapeutic to go through my blogging history of the past (nearly) six years, but other thigs need doing.

In reference to the title I had a very worrying experience last night, my new (and soon to be sent back) electric blanket was passing a charge through me so that when I touched Rhys’ arm there was a definite crakly sensation. Needless to say it was unplugged soon after, and I’ll just go back to bedsocks and a hot water bottle from now on.

Brownies start their booklovers badges tonight. There is also going to be a spot inspection, so I need to make sure I’m tidy enough not to be a hypocrite!

It’s Chriiiistmaaaas!

As I walked up to the front doors of our local-ish massive supermarket yesterday, I was slightly bewildered to find that the space to the left of the entrance to which I was automatically heading in order to pick up a trolley actually contained none. The initial dilemma was soon sorted out – there were some spare trolleys to the right of the entrance, but then I looked more closely at what was being displayed in the former trolley space. Yes, you’ve guessed – trees and decorations. As I pushed my displaced trolley and self into the store I noticed that the “Automatic-Barriers-That-Let-Shoppers-In-But-Not-Out-Again” (TM) were emblazoned with the words ‘Merry Christmas’. Add to this that the major display space at the front of the store was stacked with Christmas items, and that mince pies have been in stock for weeks (best before next Tuesday).

So, this is Christmas and what have you done? Another year over and a new one just begun… If you had any plans to achieve anything before the end of 2008, abandon all hope. Christmas is here and your time must be spent buying food, writing cards, buying presents, decorating the house, buying wine, organising parties, buying a new fancy outfit and singing carols.

But hurry, the fleeting Christmas spirit never lasts long, after a few days of this you’ll be hankering for your normal life back again, wanting to avoid the rich food and increasing overdraft, by my reckoning we’ve got until about November 24th to fit our celebrations in before it all just gets a bit too much. 2009 will have to start early on 25th November, update your calenders now – or even better go and buy new ones while the real spending spirit of Christmas is still with us.

Have a good one

I’m here :)

So despite my blog doing its best to hide from administrators, lose its posts, lose its comments, and as a last ditch attempt put half of my road in a power blackout for half an hour thus losing the internet I AM ACTUALLY HERE!

However it is now gone midnight, so I should not be here.

Goodnight, sleep well
